Welcome to the Former Money Waster Blog

Living On The Edge of Broke, While Appearing Financially Successful

25 years of doing it wrong!

We simply couldn’t figure out how to get out of the paycheck → paycheck cycle

I am Melinda Mackie and I’m a former money waster. Wasting money was the biggest reason my husband and I were living on the edge of being broke while appearing financially successful. We spent money on things we didn’t need that we purchased with credit cards or loans. Our credit was excellent, but the minimum payments on our debt were stealing our income. Our bank account was always just above zero so we never had the money for emergencies. It was a hopeless cycle to be in.

We Finally Got It

2007 was the year we figured out this money stuff and got our income organized. A few years later, our income was lower but we had money in the bank account and no debt. One could say, we lived comfortably while no longer stressing over money daily. That is how we live to this day. We don’t panic when the clothes washer breaks. We have money set aside for last-minute vacations. Life is good now, but it didn’t come easy or without sacrifice.

Peace of Mind is Priceless

No More Paycheck To Paycheck

No one taught us how to manage money, but we figured it out and now I teach others how to do it. I was so frustrated as I muddled my way through the learning curve that I didn’t want anyone to ever have to go through what I did. If only I would have had this kind of one-on-one help back in 2007! Back then though, I would have told you anything over 50 bucks would have been more than we could afford to get professional help anyway, but now that I know the value this education brings, I would have figured out a way to come up with the money. You can’t put a price on the peace of mind you have when all of your money stresses are gone.  Oh, how I wish we had known how to organize our income when we were first married. We could have retired as millionaires in our 50s.

How many years will you manage your money the way you are now, before you decide it’s time to learn how to do it right, so you can stop the paycheck to paycheck cycle? Nothing will change until you change it. Not even a larger income. Trust me. I know.
